Bodie Ghost Town

Bodie State Historical Park is one of those places I had never heard of but turned out to be a very interesting site to visit (serendipity). It is an old gold-mining community that was abandoned nearly intact and then converted into a state park. Plan on spending several hours there and be sure to have a large memory card for your digital camera.

If you get a chance check out bristlecone pines. It's south of Lee Vining around Big Pine.

When I am in the area, I will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

If you get down to Lone Pine the Alabama Hills is also a great place. Lots of movies were filmed there and it's a good place for photography. Lone Pine also has a nice museum.

I was there a couple of years ago. Toured the movie museum and explored the Alabama Hills. May stay there again on my way down Hwy 395.
