Lastly, the people I rode with were just wonderful – full of life with a great sense of humor. When we got back to the arena, they had indoor ATV/UTV races (barrel, carpet, etc.) that had me laughing out loud. The grandparents, the parents, and the kids all participated so it was one big family event. All in all a great way to spend the day.

Here is a video of yours truly climbing the first obstacle at "The Waterfalls". As you can see, the guides go out of their way to make sure your ride is as safe as possible. The cheering at the end is an added bonus.
A track of the ride including distance, time, speed and elevation has been uploaded to EveryTrail. If you have never ridden Steel Bender, I would highly recommend that you go with an experienced group, preferably, one that has been there before.
Jim,
ReplyDeleteHellbender looked like fun. We are planning a trip to Moab this spring and are wondering how it is for an ATV. All the ATVs are 4X4 Polaris.
My grand daughter is 14, but is pretty experienced. The rest of us have 10,000+ miles on ATVs, not counting dirt bikes for 40 years of miles. All riding done on bad Idaho, New Mexico, and Texas roads and trails.
We would like to ride where we don't need spotters or safety lines. Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Ed Courtney AKA Elindio42 on Everytrail
Ed,
ReplyDeleteYou will have no problem with your ATVs. For a good trail reference, visit http://www.rallyontherocks.com/trailsratings. And in addition to riding, there are many other things to do and see that will make your trip to Moab a great experience.
Jim
Thanks Jim. I meant Steel Bender, but didn't check name until after posting.
ReplyDeleteIf you visit Idaho/Oregon, check out some of my rides and guides.
Ed
Thanks again for the trail rating guide. There are several rating systems in the area, but this one seems to have the best advice.

Ed - I sent you a message via EveryTrail with my phone number. Please feel free to call me if you would like to discuss riding/visiting Moab further. Also, the Paiute Trail system in south central Utah is another great place to ride. Will check out your trails the next time I am in the pacific northwest.
