Ghost Towns

Nevada is home to hundreds of "ghost towns", once thriving mining communities that lasted a few years and then were abandoned when the mines closed. One of the largest was Blair where a 100-stamp mill was built in 1907. Today, only a few stone buildings and mill foundations are left...

Another large ghost town is Rhyolite that by 1907 had electric lights, water mains, telephones, newspapers, a hospital, a school, an opera house, and a stock exchange...





Near Rhyolite is a site with some unique artwork...
