Impeachment
In my opinion, any rational individual who is not suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome" would see the highly partisan/political impeachment of the president as a complete and utter sham. The question I would like to ask those individuals who support impeachment is: "if President Trump is as bad as you believe, then why is the country doing so well".
We are currently experiencing one of the best economies in my lifetime and it will only get better once the recent trade deals are implemented. Why would anyone want to risk losing it by going back to bigger government, higher taxes and more regulations? The only answer that makes sense to me is to regain political power at the expense of the American public.

No, I did not say that when Bill Clinton was being impeached because his case was handled in a completely different and professional manner.
First, his impeachment was initiated after the Starr Report by Independent Counsel Ken Starr cited 11 possible grounds for impeachment in four categories: perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and abuse of power. There was no independent investigation of President Trump.
Second, the Clinton impeachment was held in public where both sides were able to present evidence and witnesses. The Trump impeachment was not. Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee conducted their impeachment investigation behind closed doors and would not allow Republicans to call their own witnesses.
Third, the Clinton impeachment was bipartisan. On the accusation of perjury, the vote was 228 in favor and 206 against. On the accusation of obstruction of justice, the vote was 221 in favor and 212 against. The only thing that was bipartisan about the Trump impeachment was a couple of Democrats voting against impeachment. Every Republican voted against impeachment.
Fourth, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress are extremely weak and ambiguous charges that I do not believe merit the impeachment of a duly elected President months ahead of the next election. You could impeach every President in history with those charges.
Lastly, Nancy Pelosi's decision to delay &/or forgo sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate unless they meet the Democrat's demands is an entirely political move that demonstrates how weak their case is. It also goes against past precedents for impeachment.
I understand that some people hate President Trump and would do anything to remove him from office. However, this impeachment sets a dangerous precedent in that any party that controls the House can impeach any future president for whatever reason(s) they choose. Do we really want a government where 218 people in the House can overrule the choice of millions of voters just because they do not like him/her?
