Illegal Voting

A majority of House Democrats voted against a bill that would require voters to show proof of citizenship. Under current U.S. law, only citizens can vote in federal elections, but the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 prohibits states from confirming citizenship status. In my opinion, this is why Biden and his DEI administration have allowed 10+ million illegal and unvetted immigrants into the country. In swing states, it would only take a small percentage of illegals voting to influence the outcome of an election.

Democrats do not care about the country nor its citizens. Their only interest is getting and keeping power and they are willing to do and say anything to achieve that goal. If the DNC believed those illegals would vote Republican, I suspect Pelosi and Schumer would be on the first private jet to the border to help erect that wall.

Scary Stupid

Recently, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee told schoolkids that the moon is a ‘planet’ and ‘made up mostly of gases'. I find it scary that someone that dumb can be elected to Congress. No wonder our country is in trouble.

"No-brainers"

According to her biography, she earned a BA in political science from Yale University in 1972 and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1975. In 2023 she stated that she is a 'clear recipient' of affirmative action. In my opinion, this is a great example of the dumbing down of America due to the liberal bias of our education system, particularly, our institutions of higher learning.

Biden's Economy

I find it both infuriating and insulting when Biden brags about how well the economy is doing under his administration. Apparently, he has not filled up a vehicle, bought groceries, paid an electric bill or picked up the tab at a restaurant recently.

Foreign Aid

In my opinion, our government should not be borrowing money to give to foreign countries (including China and Russia) when we have a $34+ trillion dollar national debt. The interest alone will be our government's second largest expense in 2024. Sadly, there appears to be no accounting for where the money goes; I suspect a lot of it winds up in the hands of corrupt officials. It's like we have become the "sugar daddy" for the rest of the world.

What triggered this post was former President Donald Trump saying that "all foreign aid should be issued as loans from this point forward, rather than giveaways". What a great common sense approach to reducing our debt! Unfortunately, because the idea came from Trump, the current administration will never consider it.

John Kerry

John Kerry has been a gadfly in American politics ever since the Vietnam war. He has wasted millions of taxpayer dollars and has little or nothing to show for it. As Biden's "Special Presidential Envoy for Climate", he has flown all over the world spewing tons of CO2 into the atmosphere while declaring climate change to be an existential threat to mankind...

California Madness

Just when I think California politics cannot get any crazier, they will begin providing their 700,000 illegal immigrants free medical care at an estimated cost of $3.1 billion per year. Considering they are projecting a $68 billion deficit for 2024, this is sheer madness. And in addition to the cost, imagine what this will do to an already overburdened health care system.

Rising Gas Prices

The cost of gasoline has risen dramatically here in southern Arizona and is now averaging around $4.49/gallon. Back in March of 2022, I posted an article on how an abundant, affordable source of energy is the basis for a modern economy to grow and prosper. Even Elon Musk, perhaps, the smartest man on the planet and a proponent of electric vehicles, believes we should increase domestic production. 

As far as I can tell, Biden's war on fossil fuels has done virtually nothing to improve the environment. It has, however, created high inflation (fuel affects the cost of all goods & services) and made our enemies richer by raising the cost of the oil we import (in a way we are funding the Ukraine war). Until China, India and Russia quit building new coal-fired power plants, the "green new deal" is simply hurting the U.S. The rest of the world has to be laughing their collective asses off watching our own government destroy the country.

Hypocritically, the Biden administration continues to fly all over the world for political junkets, fundraising and vacations. As usual they are never subject to the actions they impose on the rest of us.

Orwell's 1984

I just re-read Orwell's 1984 and the similarities between it and what is happening with our government today are simply frightening. When I first read the book many years ago, I thought this would never happen in America. Little did I realize how prophetic it would be. In my opinion, this book should be required reading in school. Back in May of 2022, I wrote about people parking right next to my new car regardless of how far away from other vehicles I parked. Well, here it is over a year later and I am still having the same problem...

Political Hypocrisy

Washington, DC is full of hypocrites. They are constantly telling us what to do while they do just the opposite. My favorite example is John Kerry, Biden's Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, who flies all over the world in private jets even though he states climate change is an existential threat to human civilization and the environment. You can add Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Pete Buttigieg and others to that list.

I am currently waiting on the mainstream media to point out that although Joe Biden says the rich should pay their fair share of taxes and that guns should be banned, his son, Hunter, has been charged with failure to pay taxes on millions of dollars and a felony firearm offense (something that would put you and I in jail). I suspect it will be a long wait.

Crazy Gas Prices

If I drive 15 miles west to Apache Junction, gas is $4.99/gallon. If I drive 18 miles east to Superior, gas is $3.79/gallon. Both towns are in the same county and less than 40 miles apart, yet there is a $1.20/gallon difference. Guess where I filled up.

Scary Numbers

I suspect most people do not think much about our country's national debt or its effect on our economy. To give the $31+ trillion debt some perspective, consider that is over $246,000 per taxpayer and the interest alone is around $520 billion a year at current interest rates. That is money that could be used to solve a lot of our country's problems. Click here to see the most recent numbers.

Congressional Malfeasance

Congress (controlled by Democrats) just released a 4,155-page, $1.7 trillion spending package that has to be passed by midnight this Friday in order to prevent a partial government shutdown going into the Christmas holiday. Of course, no one in Congress is going to read the complete bill before the deadline, so they will vote on a bill without really knowing what's in it. I believe politicians do this on purpose so they can include as many pork barrel, special interest projects as possible. One of the problems with this process is the amount of government waste it generates. For an example, here is a recent article from the New York Post listing some of the most outrageous expenditures.

If you would like to see a much more comprehensive list of government waste, I would recommend Senator Rand Paul’s 2021 Waste Report where he highlights a whopping $52,598,515,585 of waste, including a study of pigeons gambling on slot machines, giving kids junk food, and telling citizens of Vietnam not to burn their trash. No matter how much money has already been wasted, politicians keep demanding even more.

Climate Hypocrisy

I just watched an informative Tucker Carlson video detailing how politicians and the elites introduce tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by flying in private jets while claiming climate change is an existential threat to human civilization and the environment. John Kerry, Biden's Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, is one of the worst offenders. His family’s private jet has spewed more than 300 metric tons of carbon dioxide since he assumed the post. It's difficult for me to take anyone seriously when they do just the opposite of what they tell us to do.

The other problem is how one-sided the main stream media reports climate change. Here in southern Arizona we have had one of the coldest Novembers on record and December is shaping up to be even worse. This summer when we had some above average temperatures, the media told us that it was due to global warming. However, now that the country is experiencing some of the coldest weather in recent memory, all you hear is crickets. It's getting harder and harder to know who or what to believe anymore.

Update (12/13/2022):  The Department of Energy has fired Sam Brinton. In as much as you are more likely to be struck by lightning than fired from a government job, there must have been a lot of pressure to get rid of this guy.

According to the most recent data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average life expectancy in the U.S. is 78.6 years (76.1 years for men and 81.1 years for women). However, in New Jersey the voter rolls have 2,400 registrants 105 years old or older. You may want to move there to extend your life expectancy!
